Preserve the work-order and station context, route the unit to a supervised exception station and forbid unverified free-text substitution.

Scanned component does not match the MES bill of material.
Block completion, show the expected and observed identifiers and require supervisor disposition before assembly continues.

MES response is unavailable or times out.
Keep the event in a visible pending state with idempotent retry; do not display a successful completion until the system acknowledges it.
